embrace the ticker!

OK, so after all that bellyaching and feeling like I gained a pound of peanut butter weight, I adjusted my weight loss ticker in the sidebar, and discovered that I actually lost .3 pounds in the past couple days. I guess I just completely forgot what I weighed on Monday, and assumed my weight today was higher. See, I'm clearly not too smart for any jobs. And while .3 is no great shakes or anything, it is a loss, and it recharged my motivation. Phew!

  1. That's great!! It is easy to lose sight of the big picture when you see those jumps on the scale.

So you are updating your ticker every day? I haven't decided how I'm handling it. I also haven't decided if I am weighing every day or once a week. They each have their pros and cons.

  2. I'm still figuring that one out too -- I skipped yesterday because I felt crappy and didn't want to admit the potential gain, but that's totally ass backward. I should be straightforward about both gains and losses, so yup, I think I'll do it everyday no matter what. I wish I had more of a graph so I could see the history of the ups and downs... maybe a lst below it? Although, I think tracking can become a bit excessive, so maybe not.

  3. A loss is a loss!

Okay, this works for me when I am mostly on game mentally but also leaning towards the triscuits or PB. I have some seriously strong toothpaste and I brush my teeth and then drink a cold glass of water. Usually that stong minty taste will keep me out of anything recreational. Of course some nights, I can't convince myself to do it.

  4. Ooh, I like that -- it's something concrete I can turn to in a moment of weakness. Thanks!

  5. Do you have an iPhone? If so, there is an app that will track your weight and graph it for you. I will weigh everyday and enter it there. I think I may only report on my blog and change my ticker once a week.

  8. I could have sworn I posted a comment here the other day, but there's a good chance I am just delusional. Good lord -- the baby ate my brain. Or maybe I'm just technologically dumb today.
